Clare Buckle

This series of work explores the shape, structure and nature of industrial buildings.

I am interested in exploring the unknowability to the layperson of what goes on within these structures.  I use the process of printmaking to separate photographs into layers of colour that are selected to emphasise aspects of shape or surface, these are overlaid with a photographic layer to provide a level of ‘reality’ that is sometimes more and sometimes less distinct.

Sometimes metallic inks are employed to add to a sense of impenetrability to the facade, as the buildings are also often disconnected physically from local communities, and occasionally only seen distantly by the observer.
